Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) is standard in all Hefestus models, except Poseidon. MAP is being performed through the patented SLBTM method, in which no vacuum is needed while the residual Oxygen is guaranteed to be less than 1%. This method is ideal for fresh and sensitive products, especially for fresh meat and fish.
Hefestus' sealers are low cost, low power consumption, low noise, compact yet high efficiency machines, easy to maintain and operate (screens translated in Greek). Each machine can be used in more than one tray with easily changeable sealing heads in few minutes. In small trays, double heads can be used doubling, thus, productivity.
(MAP: Modified Atmosphere Packaging)
In MAP process, atmospheric air is being replaced by an inert gas mix (N2, CO2 usually) that significantly reduces food decomposition due to microorganisms. Low O2 levels prevent germs growth and the product may be distributed in chill or even room tmp. conditions.
SLBTM (Shelf Life Booster) technology
SLBTM technology creates MAP conditions without resorting in vacuum puming but by gas flashing into the tray. Even the most sensitive products sealed under SLBTM do not suffer any harm in texture and taste since vacuum, that forces micro-bubbles to explode, is avoided. Both sealing and MAP steps happen in a one, all purposes, light sealing head.
