Shrink packaging is a very common pack type, not only in food but also in a wide range of products. In food applications, products such as agricultural or bakery items can be easily and economically packed with shrink film, with or without trays.
During the shrink packaging process, the shrink film first forms a loose envelope around the product through thermosealing and then shrinks when exposed to higher temperatures.
In order for the shrink pack to be professional and visually attractive, the shrink film must have specific quality characteristics.
Kapelis Packaging distributes shrink films produced by Syfan, a world-class manufacturer, at highly competitive prices. These films are food-contact certified polyolefins which, after appropriate processing, offer a variety of properties, such as:
-
Mono-layer or multi-layer shrink film structure
-
Anti-fog properties
-
Antistatic properties
-
Hot needle perforation, so venting holes do not widen during shrinkage
-
Variable shrinkage power (mild or strong), depending on the product’s durability
-
Strong shrink memory, suitable for products that continue to lose volume after packaging (e.g. due to dehydration)
-
Very good to hermetic sealing
-
Sealing even at relatively low temperatures, ideal for sensitive products and/or high packaging speeds
-
Corona treatment to retain print ink
-
Heavy-duty shrink film for products requiring high resistance
The offered shrink films are uniform in their properties across the entire surface and in all directions. This ensures uniform shrinkage along both the machine and transverse directions, durability on high-speed machines, and improved sealing performance.
Furthermore, in most types, the film structure is reinforced through special irradiation, creating cross-linked molecules that result in stronger shrink film and reduced seal burn.
Shrink films are supplied either single-wound or center-folded.
